Negroni Svegliato

This came by way of Reddit r/cocktails channel. I had heard of people shaking negronis and that it changed the texture dramatically. When I saw one involving coffee I had to give it a try. The original post described infusing coffee into the vermouth using a mocha pot, which I felt could ruin some of the flavours. This version simply splits the vermouth with The Gentleman's Coffee Liqueur making it far simpler and preserving the profile of the vermouth.

INGREDIENTS

  • 20ml Gin, preferably a London dry.

  • 20ml Campari.

  • 10ml The Gentleman's Coffee Liqueur.

  • 10ml Sweet Vermouth, I used Caperitif.

  • 3 drops of 20% saline solution

  • Orange peel to garnish

METHOD

Chill a coupe or Nick and Nora glass in the freezer, if using a coupe you'll need to scale the recipe up by 50%. Add the ingredients to a shaker and vigorously shake for 15 to 20 seconds. Double strain into your glass and garnish with an orange peel.
